The Anthony Deane Story
When long-time Amazing Discoveries supporter Anthony Deane tuned in to last year’s campmeeting, he didn’t expect it to spark such a deep revival in his heart. But as he listened, studied, and prayed, the Lord began revealing powerful truths from Scripture.
Read how God is guiding Anthony’s journey of faith, study and courage to stand firm in these last days.

In August 2024, I attended the Maine Campmeeting held by the Caribou SDA Church. Shortly after, I learned of a campmeeting that had been held around the same time as the Caribou campmeeting also in August 2024 by Amazing Discoveries Ministries in Williams Lake, BC (interestingly enough, an area also known as the Cariboo but spelled differently). I am a co-laborer and supporter of this ministry and so I watched the recorded meetings online. I had noticed striking differences in this campmeeting compared to others held in the past. The title of this campmeeting, “The True Three Angels’ Messages” stood out definitively. I wondered, “Was there a different message from common lines?” “What do you mean, ‘true’?” There were no popular speakers or well-known presenters within the Seventh-day Adventist ecosystem presenting at this campmeeting. Song service was sung using Scripture with the Landis singers.
I had noticed some changes in presenters at Amazing Discoveries and wasn’t sure what God might be doing behind the scenes. While I didn’t have all the details at the time, I trusted that He was leading the ministry according to His plan. And now, seeing how AD continues to stand firm and grow in its mission, I can see His hand clearly at work!
The Scripture songs sung by the Landis singers were a blessing to hear. I always believed we should learn to compose songs using Scripture. It was quite different from the common non-sanctifying praise and worship songs being sung within our churches that are most of the time created by musicians who are not in line with SDA beliefs. The Scripture songs kept me focused on what would come next.
As Wendy Goubej, the president of Amazing Discoveries, began her first presentation, the title of the sermon, “The Experience: Will The Real Seventh-day Adventist Please Stand Up” stood out again to me. “I believe I am a real Seventh-day Adventist,” I thought, but what does the title really mean? As she shared the history and experience at the Exeter campmeeting in New Hampshire, in the summer of 1844, the information was all new to me. The Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy quotes were shared with the viewers fulfilling the Bible text of 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” You could tell the presenters, Wendy, Tabea, and MacKenzie were well-studied and the Holy Spirit gave power to the messages as the truth was made plain.
The challenge and test came when MacKenzie presented on the question of how do we get to October 22, 1844. I realized I didn’t know how to get to this date using the Bible alone and rightly dividing the word of truth. Using Israeli agricultural charts showing when the flax and barley are ripe to determine the first month and the new moon to determine the day of the month increased my faith that the hand of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit was over the affairs of Amazing Discoveries and He was at the helm of it all.
After showing from the Bible how to get to October 22, 1844, I was convicted and wanted to hear more of what would be shared. When MacKenzie mentioned in His presentation that the King of the North is Turkey, in my mind, I thought, “I know he didn’t just say that the King of the North is Turkey” and if he did say it, he would be going against the common belief that the King of the North is the papacy. I started to wrestle with this thought and I began thinking MacKenzie had lost his mind. “How could you explain so thoroughly October 22, 1844 and fail on the obvious?” I thought. I know Walter is firm on his position – the papacy being the King of the North. I know Conrad Vine, who has hosted Daniel 11 conferences in the past, holds to the position that the King of the North is the papacy.
After hearing the panel discussion with MacKenzie, Irly, Nicholas, and Kharl supported by the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy, I began searching for more quotes and support of Turkey being the King of the North in the Bible and SOP. I found that very few online preachers hold this position, but the ones who do are biblically-seasoned, and are in agreement with the pioneers of the faith, and can rightly divide the word of truth.
After much prayer and study, it was clear to me that the issue was a literal view versus a spiritual view. We are told not to spiritualize Scripture (GC 598.3). As God was giving me wisdom in answer to my prayer, I thought I would share with my brothers and sisters what the Lord had revealed to me in Daniel 11:45 and the reasons for believing what I now believe. In sharing this position, I was met with resistance from my brethren with the exception of three people who now believe the King of the North is Turkey. It was at this point I realized I had to make a decision whether I would stand for Truth or fit in with the common view of incorrect thinking.
The Holy Spirit revealed through my study that the true Three Angels’ Messages are indeed what will cause the shaking. As I continue to study and grow, the Lord is faithfully guiding me by His Spirit into all truth (John 16:13). Praise God for answered prayers and for Jesus “who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord” (1 Cor. 1:30-31). Amen! I’m learning more every day and am thrilled by the foundational truths God is confirming in my heart.
Anthony’s story is one of many—proof that when truth is lifted high, lives are changed. May God be praised!
